Selecting a Contractor

Did you know that 4 out of 5 contractors will fail in business in the first 5 years? Did you know that 60% of all the Roofing Contractors you see in the yellow pages will not be there in 3 years? Do you know why?

It’s actually very simple; they don’t put anything into their pricing for Overhead. They believe in giving the lowball pricing, hiring cheap, inexperienced help, and buying any material that’s on sale at stores such as Home Depot. They aren’t approved by any major material manufacturers, because they haven’t been around long enough and the quality of work they produce couldn’t be warranted by Guido the loan shark. Not to mention that big speech they give you about their workmanship Guarantee that goes away with their memory.

Once again leaving the homeowner with a roof that’s failing, leaks to the interior of their home, stains, and a bad taste in their mouth about all Roofing Contractors.

Question: How many roofs will you purchase in your lifetime? One? Two? Three? Let’s face it, your roof protects your home and all of its contents within every day of every year, 24 hours a day. Shouldn’t you take some time to select your roofing contractor carefully? Shouldn’t you select someone who will be there next year? Shouldn’t you select one who has the manufacturers approval?

Here are a few guidelines to follow in your selection of a Roofing Contractor/Company:

1 Make sure you contractor is licensed, insured and can show proof of both.

2 Ask how long the Roofing Contractor/Company has been in business under the same name. Be weary of companies in business less than 5 years under the same name.

3 Request a list of references in your area, complete with contact names and telephone numbers. If the Contractor is of his word, he will gladly give you several.

4 Verify that your Contractor is approved by the material manufacturer you have chosen. Call the 800 number for the manufacturer or visit the manufacturer’s website and find all approved Contractors in your area.

5 Check to see if your Contractor is in good standings with the local building department. Building departments will not mislead you; they will be very direct on who is and who is not a reputable Contractor.

At your request, we will be glad to send you a free videotape or DVD called “A Consumers Guide to Avoiding Roofing Disasters”. If you are in the market for a new roof or need an evaluation of your current roofs condition, please contact us.
